The 12th annual Fashion Week El Paseo, produced by Palm Springs Life, officially began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on opening night. Frank Jones, Palm Springs Life publisher and president of Desert Publications Inc., invited Palm Desert dignitaries including Mayor Jan Harnik and city council members, to a private tour of the Fashion Week tents, audiovisual facilities, and backstage areas.
Newscaster Alexandra Pierce of CBS Local 2 introduced Mayor Harnick and Fashion Week presenting sponsor El Paseo Jewelers owners Raju and Jaishri Mehta as they cut the ribbon that would launch the event. As the ceremony concluded, guests lined up at the “Step and Repeat” for photos before mingling in the reception tent.
The opening night fashion show featured designers Christopher Bates, Adam Lippes, and Mikael D.
Guests who attended the evening’s festivities included Palm Desert Councilwoman Kathleen Kelly and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Kyle Richards and her husband, Mauricio Umansky. Umansky’s luxury real estate brokerage firm, The Agency, sponsored the Fashion Week reception tent.
