BUSCHLEN MOWATT GALLERIES
A rare showing of works by respected sculptor Javier Marin in Palm Desert
.

Javier Marin is one of the most dynamic young sculptors to emerge from the Latin American scene, and certainly among the most sought after by elite collectors of contemporary sculpture. His bronze and resin works are evocative of the crumbling Greco-Roman civilizations from which he draws reference. These are modern works in the truest sense; using classic imagery as the basis for an investigation of shape and form. This month Buschlen Mowatt Galleries will showcase a rare North American installation of Javier’s work — complemented by new paintings by Mexico’s ascending talent, Ricardo Mazal.

Also in March—Color Field works of the ’60s and ’70s, Jack Bush, Helen Frankenthaler, Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland, Jules Olitski, Larry Poons, and Frank Stella.

THE NORMAN LASITER GALLERY
Presenting new works by Robert Bracketti

Robert Bracketti is a self-taught sculptor, painter, and mixed-media artist. During the past two decades, his painting has evolved beyond a world of muted, shadowy, transitory content to work punctuated by brilliant colors that appear to percolate to their individual surfaces. As pictured in Kaleidoscape Series #3, the feeling of Bracketti’s earlier works has given way to a sense of pleasure in the sobriety of pure pigments that seem to glow and to record and amplify emotion.

View Bracketti’s new and earlier pieces, along with paintings by James Jensen and Kathryn Henneman, and photography by Christopher Westergaard and Larry Merkle at the gallery space in the 1500 block of South Palm Canyon Drive.
