More children will wake up to a toy-filled Christmas this year thanks to programs like Toys for Tots, a mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, which collects new, unwrapped toys in the months leading up to Christmas and then distributes them to less fortunate kids.
The fourth annual Raymond James' Holiday Reception Party on Dec. 2 did its part to help the Marines' efforts.
More than 100 clients and five 29 Palms Marines joined Raymond James advisors and staff at the local Raymond James branch for an evening of live music, mingling, Marine appreciation and giving.
“Our clients are incredibly generous,” says Marcia Bloemendaal, senior vice president, Investments. “This year we filled more than 10 large boxes of toys for the cause. We thought the Marines might need to bring another truck to transport them all.”
During the event, the five Marines who donated their time were acknowledged with personal introductions, and Raymond James presented each a gift of appreciation for their services.
“Coincidentally, one of our clients served with the founder of Toys for Tots,” says Bill Lynch, branch manager. “Lorne Froats shared some of his stories with the Marines regarding his service.”
Raymond James is still looking for Toys for Tots donations. “Our doors are open to anyone who would like to come by our offices with a toy for the cause,” says Lynch.
