The month of October is prime U-Pick’em season at Oak Glen’s six apple orchards just an hour away from Palm Springs, and doubles as a great weekend getaway for desert dwellers and visitors.
Expect to see Charles G. Bill Jr. defend his three-time crown as tamale-eating champ at the 23rd annual Indio International Tamale Festival, Dec. 6-7. The free-admission festival attracts more than 100,000 people.
