2014 Modernism Week was given an early fall kick off with a round of weekend activities that included the Grand Opening Party at Design 849 in Palm Springs on Oct. 11. The lavish “Welcome to 1954” blast was an official Modernism Week event hosted by Bill Nicholson and Design 849. Modernism Week celebrates the popular homes and major buildings designed in the 1950s and ’60s by mid-century architecture legends. Their impact brings thousands of visitors to Palm Springs each February to see these Southern California mid-century treasures.

Weekend activities included a double-decker bus ride, a Modernism Yard Sale, and bike and walking tours of mid century locations. Tours left from the Hilton Hotel and were open to the public.
